Board packs, winter pressure, and integration joint boards—NHS management literacy, not NMC registration.
Online or on campus

UK health services fail in flow, workforce, and governance that treats a target as a fact. This degree starts there. You will map an unscheduled-care pathway as a management problem—beds, social care packages, and who owns the delay—not as a protocol you are not qualified to write. British cases sit beside English NHS structures so you can say which instrument you are actually using: a territorial board, an IJB, an ICS, or a national performance framework. Haverton University’s dual pathway means the London seminar and the online seminar are the same construct. Identity-checked assessment, the same reading list, the same refusal to market this as a nursing degree with a pretty hospital photograph. Faculty will mark whether you can brief a board on harm, money, and industrial relations without claiming a PIN you do not have. The award is academic. It is not NMC, not UKPHR, not a consultant contract. It is for service managers, analysts, and clinical staff already registered elsewhere who need systems literacy. Capstones must use an anonymised service dataset or a publicly documented winter/board paper, not a global-health essay that never leaves a generic ‘health system’. MSc Health Service Management (UK/NHS) is taught as one award, not a list of unrelated modules. The published length is 18 months, and the credit total is 36. Students move from Territorial Boards, IJBs, and English ICS Comparators through Territorial Boards, IJBs, and English ICS Comparators; Statute, Directions, and Performance Frameworks; Patient Safety Governance for Non-Registrants; Delayed Discharge as a Multi-Agency System; Winter Plans, Surge, and Honest Capacity; Planned Care Backlogs and Harm Stratification, and finish on Writing for Non-Executives and Integration Chairs. Each course has a question, a method, and a submission. In this field, students describe how people, records, and decisions move through one service, and separate cause from harm. Reading is a pathway description, an incident summary, and an information standard. The artefact a marker expects is a brief a service manager could use, with the evidence attached. The award is built so that a graduate can do the following in practice: Draft a board paper that separates harm, money, and industrial relations Diagnose delayed discharge as a system, not a ward anecdote Read British and English NHS governance instruments without mixing them Teaching assumes the student can read a source, attempt a problem before the seminar, and revise after feedback. Attendance at live seminars is part of the design. The capstone or final course must use the methods of the earlier courses; a project that ignores them does not pass. This course does not confer a licence to practise nursing, medicine, or any other clinical profession. The pages for each course name the topics that are examined. Those topics are the syllabus. A brochure line is not a substitute for them.
Thirty-six credits: NHS architecture and law in practice, flow and winter operations, workforce and money, and a supervised service-management capstone. Dual-pathway parity is assessed, not advertised as a slogan. No NMC, RCN, or NHS identity is used as if the Haverton University were an official training pipeline.
